Protecting Your Assets After the Hurricane

The storm has passed and it’s now time to assess the damage.

The Initial Inspection

First, check your building’s envelope. If it’s damaged, you’ll likely need a temporary fix to protect your assets. This is especially true if there has been damage to the roofing system. But be careful when inspecting roof damage—damaged roofs can be very unstable.

Your top priority during this initial inspection should be to assess whether your roof is protected from moisture. If it’s not, you need temporary moisture protection until the roof can be repaired or replaced.

Reliable, Temporary Moisture Protection

The FiberTite Blue Roof™ Temporary Roof Membrane is designed for use on flat commercial and industrial roofs, or sloped roofs, as a temporary roof membrane for damaged roofs until permanent repairs can be made. FiberTite Blue Roof can be attached by a variety of conventional means depending on the substrate or the roof’s construction. For small repairs, you can use FiberTite FTR-101 General Purpose Sealant, induction welded attachment plates or mechanical attachment plates.

FiberTite Blue Roof is a reinforced thermoplastic roof membrane that’s available in rolls 100” wide by 100’ long. It can be made watertight by conventional commercial hot-air weld seaming equipment. Other temporary seaming and sealing methods include, the FiberTite FTR-101 General Purpose Sealant, waterproofing caulk sealants or adhesive tapes (including duct tape). Roof penetrations can also be temporarily sealed with FiberTite accessories.
