This location has 80 acres (more than three million square feet) of covered space. For quite some time, they had been experiencing severe leaks with their existing polyurethane foam and built-up roof systems. As a result, they decided to explore alternative roofing options.
According to Roger Kinzie, Gallo’s Project Builder, he and D.C. Taylor Co, a long standing authorized FiberTite® roofing contractor, reviewed several different re-roof alternative systems. “They were looking for a product that met California Title 24 and a product that would hold up from residue generated from a nearby tomato processing plant,” said Roger.
“They also wanted to avoid the expense of tearing off their existing roof. In addition, they needed proven longevity, energy savings and low maintenance.” After exploring the roofing options, they elected to install FiberTite.
In addition to the energy savings they enjoy compared to their previous built-up roof system, they also received an Energy Star California rebate of $ .15 per square foot.
After this project was complete, Gallo decided to use FiberTite on other buildings at the Modesto, California location. Today, the total square footage is over 900,000 square feet.
FiberTite was introduced in 1979 by Seaman Corporation, a company that has also been a leader in many other markets, some for more than 55 years. These markets include architectural fabric structures, geomembranes, truck tarps, dock seals, military collapsible fuel tanks and military tents.
FiberTite is constructed with the heaviest denier (strongest) yarn in the industry, which provides superior puncture and tear resistance.
Next, a unique adhesive coat is applied to the base fabric, which forms a molecular bond and encapsulates each yarn. This extra step maximizes peel resistance and seam strength.
The face coat includes DuPont™ Elvaloy® as the base polymer, along with other proprietary chemicals, to provide superior UV and chemical resistance as well as long-term flexibility. In fact, FiberTite was used as the standard to set ASTM D6754-02 for KEE membranes. The back coat is a balanced coating, which offers superior welding properties and maximizes seam strength.
Over 99% of FiberTite roofs ever installed are still protecting.
