The Challenge

Tyson Foods | Installed October, 2010

A multinational corporation, based in Springdale, Arkansas, Tyson Foods is the world’s largest protein producer. Tyson Foods employs more than 115,000 people worldwide and has approximately 90 facilities throughout the U.S., concentrated predominately in the Midwest. Through working with FiberTite, approximately 2 million square feet of roofing have been replaced on Tyson Foods facilities.

Food processing facilities like Tyson Foods are some of the most complex and abusive environments roof specialists encounter. With heavy equipment placed on the roof rather than on the ground, these busy roofs, or pipe farm roofs, require some additional work around to ensure that they can withstand multiple penetrations.

Food processors know that their roofs can potentially be some of the most contaminated
environments because of venting, condensing fluids, grease, animal fat, and cleaning
agents. Due to the contamination risk and the strict regulations in our food industry, food
processors do not have a choice when it comes to properly functioning roofs. The
potential for a roof failure is not an option.

The Solution

When Tyson Foods requires an effective solution to their complex roofing problem, it
chooses FiberTite Roofing Systems by Seaman Corporation. Because FiberTite offers
totally integrated product lines, our team has the ability to match the requirements of
Tyson Foods’ needs through semi-customizations, offering the best solution for the
long-term.

When it comes time for Tyson to put a new roof on one of their plants, they already know
that FiberTite Roofing Systems will be the most cost-effective, long-lasting option
available. They know this because they have already installed almost 2 million square
feet of FiberTite roofing membrane on other Tyson rooftops.

The 60-mil XT, top-of-the-line, fleece back Hybrid™ system fuses conventional built up
roofing or modified bitumen roofing with a cap of 60-mil XT fleece back. The product is
then applied in either hot asphalt or cold process.
