FiberTite® Hybrid Multi-Ply Commercial Roofing Systems for Critical Facilities

FiberTite Hybrid Multi-Ply roofing systems are engineered for critical facilities where failure is not an option.

By combining a reinforced SBS modified bitumen base with a high-performance ketone ethylene ester (KEE) enhanced PVC membrane, these systems deliver redundant protection, superior durability, and long-term performance in demanding environments.

By combining the strengths of modified bitumen and a FiberTite single-ply membrane, hybrid-multiply systems offer enhanced puncture resistance and satisfy redundancy requirements for waterproofing and workmanship in relevant applications. The phased construction of these systems also allows other trades to exit the roof prior to the finished membrane being installed.

Hybrid systems provide unique benefits compared with traditional modified bitumen systems, which can come with some challenges, including:

  • Limited UV resistance
  • Poor performance in ponding water
  • Reduced chemical resistance
  • Shrinkage at laps over time
  • Higher maintenance requirements

Comparatively, FiberTite Hybrid Multi-Ply systems address these challenges with:

  • Proven UV and chemical resistance
  • Resistance to ponding water
  • High reflectivity for energy efficiency
  • Lower maintenance requirements
  • FM approvals for multi-ply systems
  • Significantly enhanced puncture resistance

What Are Hybrid Multi-Ply Commercial Roof Systems Best For?

Multi-ply systems are ideal for demanding applications where architectural specifications may seek redundancy. These systems are typically used where standard single-ply alone isn’t “robust enough” for the building’s risk profile.

Commonly used on heavy industrial and manufacturing facilities, mission-critical buildings, and other structures exposed to chemicals, grease, and other byproducts. Specific applications include:

  • Hospitals
  • Data centers
  • Food processing facilities
  • Chemical plants
  • Government facilities and more

Hybrid systems are also ideal for high-wind or severe weather environments, including coastal regions and open exposure sites.

How Are FiberTite Hybrid Systems Constructed?

In multi-ply roofing systems, a FiberTite commercial roof membrane is applied as the cap sheet atop a FiberTite SBS modified bitumen base sheet. Its unique construction provides superior protection against chemicals, grease, UV, ponding water, and puncture compared to traditional multi-layer roofing systems.

The base sheet consists of a high strength random fibrous glass or polyester mat that is impregnated and coated with styrene-butadiene-styrene.

Finally, FiberTite Hybrid Multi-Ply roofing systems are compatible with leading industry cover boards and FTR-Value insulation, creating a true high-performance roof system for demanding commercial applications.

FiberTite single-ply membranes offer four layers of protection that buildings can count on.

Why FiberTite for My Commercial Roof?

FiberTite earns its name by creating the roofing industry’s toughest base fabric. Combined with high-performance PVC materials enhanced with KEE (Ketone Ethylene Ester), this fabric foundation delivers exceptional strength, chemical resistance, and long-term durability in adhered roofing systems.

The result is a roof you can depend on for decades. Learn more about our membrane technology and how it differs from other options like TPO, PVC, and EPDM.
