Manatee County Schools

FiberTite® Roofing Systems keep students dry in Manatee County Schools.

Project Details: Manatee County Schools | Installed March, 1986

Name: Manatee County Schools
Dates: Installed in March, 1986
Location: Bradenton, FL U.S.A.

Project Story:

In 1986, the Manatee County School Board had to resolve a twofold problem: leaky roofs that must be replaced every five to seven years, and the continual maintenance that is inherent in these lesser quality roofs. Manatee County has more than 35,000 students in better than 450 buildings, which must withstand tropical storms, blazing Florida sun, high humidity and strong winds. The roofing problem had become a major concern.

This issue was presented to the design firms of David Gracy and Associates and Mark Ramaeker Architects. After careful consideration, they selected FiberTite® Roofing Systems as the solution. Only FiberTite Roofing Systems are engineered with a proprietary blend of polyester fibers and Seaman-developed Dow ELVALOY™ Ketone Ethylene Ester coating technology built in to reinforce their durability. The FiberTite Roofing System eliminates leaks and problems caused by ponding water, and stands up to the harshest of environmental conditions.

Today the Manatee County School Board has made FiberTite its “roof of choice” and has installed more than 2.2 million square feet of FiberTite membrane. That includes the first roof installed in 1986, which is still performing and has retained enough of its physical properties to exceed those of most other systems’ new membranes.

If peace of mind and longer life are what you expect from your roofing system, the choice is clear – a FiberTite Roofing System by Seaman Corporation.

ELVALOY™ is a trademark of The Dow Chemical Company (“Dow”) or an affiliated company of Dow.
